Los Angeles ADUs by neighborhood: what the permit data says

The 20 neighborhoods where the City of Los Angeles has issued the most ADU building permits since 2020, ranked by zip. Pick a neighborhood for its year-by-year numbers.

The Backyard Census counts ADU building permits issued in the City of Los Angeles since January 2020, grouped by zip. Counts are permits issued, not completed homes, and they cover the City of LA portion of each zip. Two zips that share the North Hollywood label (91605 and 91606) are shown as one row. Citywide, the median size on ADU permits issued since 2020 is 684 sf, and 40.5% of permits are classified as garage conversions from their work descriptions.
