How these numbers work

Each number summarizes the rent estimates A-du keeps for permitted ADUs in one ZIP code. The headline figure is the median, so half the estimates are above it and half below. The typical range runs from the 25th to the 75th percentile, which holds the middle half of the estimates. Figures are rounded to the nearest $25.

What these numbers are not

They are not asking rents from live listings, not an appraisal of your unit and not a promise of what a tenant will pay. A larger, newer or better-equipped ADU may rent for more than the range; a smaller one, or one that needs work, may rent for less.

Coverage and privacy

The tool covers ZIP codes in Los Angeles County with at least 5 estimates. It shows totals for a ZIP code only, never an address or a single unit.
