A pre-approved plan is a design the building department has already reviewed for code compliance. Filing one does not skip plan check, and it is not a permit. What it removes is the structural and life-safety review of the design itself, which is the part that usually comes back with corrections.

In the City of Los Angeles these come from the LADBS Standard Plan Program. The plans below are the ones A-du has published from that catalog, each with its own page carrying the size, bedroom and bathroom count, the plan price and the designer.
